Over 100 vessels sailed along Venezuela’s Orinoco River on Tuesday to protest the willingness of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to host a U.S. Navy destroyer, amid growing threats from Washington against the Venezuelan people.

The demonstration — which brought together civilians, military personnel, police, and local communities — took place in the southern region of Anzoátegui state to denounce the actions of Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

Among those present were the mayors of the Independencia and Monagas municipalities, Hernán Rodríguez and Luis Silva, who joined a large contingent of fishermen, members of the Bolivarian Militia, the National Bolivarian Armed Forces (FANB), police, and representatives of grassroots organizations.

Mayor Rodríguez accused Persad-Bissessar of being a “promoter of war,” echoing the Venezuelan National Assembly’s recent decision to declare the Prime Minister persona non grata.

Likewise, demonstrations took place across the country in defense of Venezuela’s peace and sovereignty.

In Puerto La Cruz, participants conducted defense drills with motorized units and held a patriotic march that ended with a symbolic hike up El Maguey Hill — a strategic point for defending the nation’s territory and the Anzoátegui coastline.

Meanwhile, residents of Miranda state took to the streets with enthusiasm and revolutionary spirit to reaffirm their commitment to peace and Venezuelan dignity.

In Guayana Esequiba, Governor Neil Villamizar and local communities firmly rejected the submissive stance of Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister and condemned U.S. actions in the Caribbean Sea.

In Caracas, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) also organized a large-scale demonstration in support of national sovereignty.
